Looking towars Manila proper from the back of Mall of Asia
My arrival in Manila was pretty much not worth mentioning. Those familiar with arriving in Manila are used to the long lines at customs but they have never given me any problems. Even travelling alone like I was this trip (Lea arrived 2 weeks ahead of me). As for accomodations in Manila this time Lea picked a placed called The Mabuhay Manor which is supposed to specialize in accomodating Balibayons (Philippine citizens living aborad). Surprisingly it was a nice place and had decent room rates. My only complaint is that the rooms did not have their own safes to store things in. The breakfast is included with the room rates and has a nice selection that both Americans and Flilipinos would enjoy. I would definately lrecommend this place to American's travelling to the Philipiines. It is located near Baclaran which is just a few minutes ride from Nino Aquino Internaltional Airport. It is kind of in a back alley in the back of Baclaran and unless you are familiar with moving around in the Philippines I would advise caution in walking around outside alone at night (Both cause of its location and because of its close proximity to Baclaran where there are rumored to be lots of pick pocketers). In no means am I trying to discourage you from staying here just giving a word of caution to those who may be travelling to the Philippines for the first time. Unfortunately I did not get any pictures of what my room or the hotel looked like when I arrvied but I did get some pictures of the room that we got when we were coming back from Bohol.
The Mabuhay Manor Superior Room January 2008
I am sorry for the lack of image quality but Lea was taking the picture and
she has yet to master to art of using autofocus. Anyhow this is a picture
of half of the room look at the beds and T.V. It had 2 queen sized baeds,
polished wooden floor, full bathroom and a loungar area that I will show below.
They had satellite cable with a nice variety of channels but I did not really
get to enjoy them as I was out of the room most of the time. All in all a
nice room for under $60 a night.

Here is a picture looking right behind the picture above showing the living area. There is a love seat, a small table with chairs and then a dressing table with mirror for the gals to sit in front of and do their makeup. All is all I consider this a good deal.
I am approaching my personal 1 meg bandwitch limit per page so please click on the icon below to see more of The Mabuhay Manor and Manila when I arrived in January 2008.
